Airports must have free water fountains every 300 meters in post-security areas
Mandate accessible drinking water stations throughout airport terminals to reduce plastic waste and ensure hydration access.
The Problem:
Once you're past security, you're a captive customer. A bottle of water that costs $0.50 at a convenience store suddenly costs $4-6. You can't bring your own water through security, and the nearest fountain (if one exists) might be a 10-minute walk away. This is a basic need being exploited.
The Standard:
Why This Matters:
Access to drinking water shouldn't be a luxury. The current system creates unnecessary plastic waste and disproportionately burdens families and budget travelers. Airports already profit enormously from retail—they don't need to monetize hydration.
